Searching for an Artist Collaborator to Create Music-Inspired Piece for Doctoral Lecture Recital

Published September 30, 2019

Hello! My name is Erin Heidrick. I am a violinist and doctoral candidate at Florida State University. I am currently writing my final treatise about my favorite product of classical music-the ‘bandsemble.’

There is an incredibly creative young generation of composers in the United States, and they are pursuing this new type of experimental chamber music. Think of it as music for classical chamber ensemble-meets-rock band. You could listen to it in Carnegie Hall or in your favorite casual local bar. For my lecture recital, I will be premiering a 6-minute piece by FSU doctoral composition candidate Matthew Briggs with my own bandsemble, and I would love to add an element of music-inspired art to further draw in the audience. I am looking for an FSU student artist to collaborate with on this project to make it a multi-media performance and student-created event. Specifically, I would love to add a video or projection of photographs to accompany the music.

Performance: Saturday, November 9th from 2-3pm in Dohnanyi Recital Hall at the College of Music.
Deadline: Must be finished by Monday, November 4th (dress rehearsal date).
Requirements: 6-min long, visual, multi-media piece, inspired by the music.
