Published May 21, 2018

FSU Art Professor Holly Hanessian recently presented at the Queen’s Museum in the Open Engagement Conference in New York City, where she and Anna Metcalfe  gave a lecture on “A Story of Sustenance- The Ceramic Object as Conduit for Engagement.” She talked about her new project, New Histories: The Gadsden Farm Project, which she received a 2018 AHPG grant from FSU to pursue for the next two years. Hanessian was also interviewed at the Queens Art Museum by Bad at Sports, a nationally known podcast, that interviews artists based on their presentation.

Open Engagement (OE) is an annual, three-day, artist-led conference dedicated to expanding the dialogue around and creating a site of care for the field of socially engaged art. The conference highlights the work of trans disciplinary artists, activists, students, scholars, community members, and organizations working within the complex social issues and struggles of our time.
