Florida State University (FSU) seeks a candidate for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in its nationally-recognized Department of Art. The ideal candidate has an active creative practice that
operates at the intersection of contemporary art, critical design, and technology. Along with a 3/2 teaching commitment, this position includes active research and service responsibilities.
Responsibilities
The candidate will have responsibilities in research/creative activity, teaching in both graduate and undergraduate courses, and departmental service. The position affords the opportunity to develop and teach graduate and undergraduate courses related to their particular research interests.
Qualifications
MFA or equivalent in the visual arts, an emerging or established recognition in their field, a clear record of excellence in teaching and strong communication skills, and an understanding of a wide array of curricular and artistic methodologies.
Candidates should have a commitment to sustained investigation of contemporary issues in art and design. Specific areas of applicant interest may include, but are not restricted to, any of the following: Critical Design, Critical Technical Practice, Design Fiction, Interrogative Design, and Critical Making. Areas of expertise may include emerging technologies, digital fabrication, and interactivity.
Ideal candidates will be comfortable working across a wide range of disciplines throughout the department, college, and university.

The FSU Department of Art is ranked the “best fine arts program” in the state of Florida by U.S. News & World Report. It offers undergraduate programs (BA, BFA) in Studio Art, and a 3-year MFA program in Studio Art. Our programs encourage interdisciplinary freedom through a wide range of emerging and traditional art practices. Areas of concentration include ceramics, digital media, painting and drawing, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Both BFA and MFA programs provide students with personal studios and exhibition spaces.

Anticipated Salary Range
Tenure-track Assistant Professor, 9-month appointment. Anticipate Hiring in the low $70Ks.
