FSU Art Associate Professor John Mann will be teaching a two week workshop at the Penland School of Craft this coming June 9-21, 2019. Penland is an international center for craft education located in Penland, North Carolina.
The class will be geared for those who wish to experiment with taking their photography into the book format. It will consider how the linear (and non-linear!) nature of the photo book can expand a set of images in a number of important ways. Students will concentrate on creating individual photography book projects while also exploring historical and experimental examples, techniques of four photo-friendly bookbinding styles, and advanced inkjet printing techniques. The class will explore image making, sequencing/editing, book/page design, and most importantly, a healthy dose of experimentation!
