1. Threefold Now! Polychrome Urn; Stephen Hawks; Slips, stains, and glaze on cone 6, electric fired, stoneware; 43 1/2”tall X 17”wide; 2016, $3,300
…“That Good may become from what our hearts we would found and from our heads direct with single purpose”… Rudolf Steiner, Foundation Stone Meditation

This piece uses the vessel as canvas. It is a formal presentation, similar to Classical Greek terra sigillata ceramic vessels with obvious sides but closer to archaic Greek in awkwardness. The motto of the French Revolution, “Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity!” is contrasted on the male side with the more contemporary idea of threefolding on the female side. They are
complementary, but among other things represent past and future. The idea of threefolding and the Threefold Social Order, which some may recognize from the art of Joseph Beuys, Was originally discussed in Lectures by The philosopher and spiritual teacher, Rudolf Steiner, in the early 20th century. The Quote is from Steiner’s meditative verse, often referred to as the Foundation Stone Meditation.

2. Without Fear: 24.000″ x 20.875″, signed digital print on archival paper, 2015-2016, Done with the Simple art program Paint over the course of 5 months to amuse myself.
