MFA ’16 Brittany M. Watkins Displays in Nasty Women Exhibition NYC

Published January 9, 2017

FSU Art MFA ’09 Brittany M. Watkins will be exhibiting her video-performance piece entitled: “I am Name Brand; A Role” in the first ever Nasty Women Exhibition at the Knockdown Center in Brooklyn, NY opening January 12, 2017. This is a group exhibition that serves to demonstrate solidarity among artists who identify with being a Nasty Woman in the face of threats to roll back women’s rights, individual rights, and abortion rights. It also serves as a fundraiser to support organizations defending these rights and to be a platform for organization before the Trump Presidential Inauguration in January. Watkins will be traveling to the event and engaging in a salon style discussion to be held in conjunction with the exhibition. The artwork on display was originally created in Spring of 2015 while working as an MFA student here at Florida State University. The Nasty Women Exhibition has been publicized by such media as The Huffington Post, The Creator’s Project, Observer and Papermag, to mention a few; this call to arms has transformed into an ever expanding network of Nasty Women Artists & Art Organizers that are expanding worldwide.
