BFA Alum Ari Richter Featured in BHQFU Night Live and Curious Matter's "Sanctus"

Published October 6, 2015

Ari Richter’s four part video series “Ari Pitches Shit” was screened in the East Village for BHQFU Night Live…LIVE! on Friday, October 2nd. This hybrid night of video screenings and live performance is the culmination of a year long exploration of the intersection between art & comedy. Richter’s film follows a fictional character named Ari as he pitches a barrage of half baked television and movie concepts to anyone who will listen. It’s like the story of St. Francis preaching to the birds, only the birds are bodega clerks, and the gospel is a TV show called Snarls in Charge.

For my N J. Crew, Richter has skin in the game in the form of a skin drawing on display at Curious Matter. The group exhibition Sanctus revolves around the theme of relics, reliquaries and other kinds of magical thinking. If you couldn’t make the opening on the 4th, the show will remain on view through November 20th.

Richter’s work has also received local press mentions including Flagpole Magazine and Art Ravels for a show about hair at the gallery ATHICA in Athens, GA.
