Art Alumna Melissa Gonzalez-Lopez exhibits work “Desde mi casa” at International Exhibition in Poland

Published July 7, 2021

FSU Art BFA ’21 Melissa Gonzalez-Lopez was invited by Barbara El, curator of gARTen, to participate in this international exhibition in Gdynia, Poland, that is open to the public from July 1st to the 13th, 2021.

Gonzalez-Lopez states “Desde mi casa is a project that captures in a snapshot my experience through the Covid-19 pandemic. This image was taken precisely at my house, with myself behind the closed screen-door to symbolize my isolation from society and the world around me. Even though I am inside the house, my pose is insecure and I still have to wear a mask out of fear and paranoia of contracting the virus, getting sick or putting my family and friends at risk. This photograph’s saturation has been lowered and the exposure kept low to symbolize feelings such as depression, hopelessness, melancholy and desperation that arise from living in a closed environment for a prolonged time.”
