Scholarships & Awards
The Department of Art gives a number of awards to Studio Art students whose work demonstrates exceptional achievement. Annually, the department offers over 20 awards ranging from $300 to $1000.
The awards portal will be open November 1, 2024. The portal will be open from November 1 – 13 at 11:59pm. All applicants will know the outcome by December 9, 2024.

How to apply:
To apply, go to fsu.academicworks.com. After login, students will need to fill out the General Application first, and then will be directed to complete the Art Award application. Both parts of the application must be completed to be considered for an award. Full instructions on the Awards Application Guidelines link below.

Graduate Awards
Andy McLachlin Memorial Award: Given to outstanding art students (BA, BFA or MFA) for work exemplifying exceptional artistic achievement.
Jim Boone Endowed Art Scholarship: Given to outstanding studio art graduate students for work exemplifying exceptional achievement, with preference given to those whose work deals with social justice issues.
Mary Ola Miller Reynolds Award: Given to one graduate art student (MFA) demonstrating significant achievement in studio art.
Leslie N. Wilson-Delores Auzenne Assistantships: The Leslie N. Wilson-Delores Auzenne Assistantship for Minorities is available for all new or currently enrolled minority graduate students. Nomination is through the department or college, but competition for these awards is on a university-wide basis.
Legacy:
- This award is for incoming MFA students
- Students receive $10,000 annually for three years
- Recipients also receive a health insurance subsidy
- Recipients must participate in the Fellows Society
- Note: students CAN complete an assistantship through our department
Undergraduate Awards
Susan and Mark Messersmith Art Scholarship: Given to support one or more scholarships for undergraduate art students who exhibit excellence in Painting or Sculpture.
Andy McLachlin Memorial Award: Given to outstanding art students (BA, BFA or MFA) for work exemplifying exceptional artistic achievement.
Ann Kirn Scholarship: Given to undergraduate art students (BA, BFA) who demonstrate strong design skills. Works submitted should represent your best work in design and/or digital media.
Mary Brown Ostlund Scholarship: Given to one undergraduate art student (BA, BFA) demonstrating significant achievement in studio art.
Berlyn Arnett and Beryl Ann Henne Award in Art: Given to outstanding art students for work exemplifying exceptional achievement.
Awards Available Through Nomination
Janice Hartwell Scholarship in Printmaking: Honors one outstanding student in the printmaking area. By faculty nomination only.
Small Craft Advisory Press Book Arts Award: Given to art students working in book arts. Recipient selected by faculty committee.
