The Department of Art at Florida State University defines diversity as the sum of the ways that people are both alike and different. We are committed to embracing the full spectrum of human and social identities. We strive to create and maintain an inclusive environment in which all individuals are treated fairly, respectfully, and valued for their distinctive skills, experiences, and perspectives to maximize the potential of all within the community with whom we interact.
Department of Art Visiting Lecture Series
The Department of Art at Florida State has a history of inviting visiting artists to campus to engage with students directly and give presentations that are open to the public. Visitors are selected with inclusivity and diversity initiatives in mind, and the Department of Art as well as the College of Fine Arts are invested in bringing these voices into ongoing conversations happening within our programs.
The Department of Art is committed to the ideals of diversity, inclusion, and equity, and embraces the full spectrum of human and social identities. We endeavor to embody and act on those ideals every day by valuing, celebrating, and cultivating the differences and similarities of our students, faculty, and staff. We passionately strive to create and maintain an inclusive atmosphere of innovation – one that enables a teaching, research and service environment that maximizes people’s potential. We seek to reflect the perspectives and needs of all within the department and the communities with whom we interact.
