The Department of Art within the College of Fine Arts at Florida State University (FSU) seeks applicants for a tenure track assistant professor in Printmaking. We seek an artist/educator with printmaking at the core of their research and teaching practice that engages with both traditional and contemporary printmaking and the expanding print media discipline in practice and theory.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates will have a commitment to sustained investigation in contemporary art, with primary artistic research in printmaking. Ideal candidates seek out research and teaching opportunities across the broad range of disciplines a public university offers.

The position requires an MFA in printmaking or related field, emerging or established recognition in the field, active exhibition record, a clear record of excellence in teaching, strong communication skills, and an understanding of a wide array of curricular and artistic methodologies. Knowledge of the history, criticism and theories of visual art with a specific focus on printmaking is required. Candidates should have a broad teaching expertise with interest in teaching a combination of intaglio, screen printing, relief, and letterpress in a non-toxic studio. Two years teaching experience beyond graduate teaching preferred.  Ideal candidates will engage with innovative printmaking approaches that could include any combination of digital technologies, artist books, installation, sculpture, and/or cross disciplinary collaborations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The candidate will have responsibilities in research/creative activity, teaching in graduate and undergraduate courses and service. This position has a 2/3 teaching load. The candidate will contribute to the leadership and direction of the printmaking area.

OUR PROGRAMS: The Department of Art confers undergraduate BA, BFA and MFA (3-year) Studio Art degrees. Our programs encourage interdisciplinary investigations across a wide range of concentrations, spanning photography, digital media, painting and drawing, printmaking, photographic and artist books, ceramics and sculpture. The department includes 18 full-time faculty. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to our department’s diversity and excellence, our community, and thrive in a public research university.

Tenure Track Assistant Professor, 9-month appointment
