FSU’s Online Contemporary Art Class as a Model of Collaborative Learning, Presented by Sunny Splillan at NAEA

naea-2014Adjunct instructor Sunny Spillane, one of the co-developers of FSU Art’s online contemporary art class, recently presented on the class at the National Art Education Association’s Annual Convention in San Diego, CA. The presentation, entitled “Collaborative Learning with/through Contemporary Art in an Online Class” shared strategies for productive use of online discussion boards and blogs as collaborative platforms, and also discussed different modes of instructional delivery for maximizing student engagement in an online art course. The NAEA National Convention is attended by thousands of PK-12 art educators as well as university, museum, and community-based art educators. Spillane’s presentation was primarily attended by art faculty at other institutions who are developing and teaching art courses online.
