Michelle Ray was SCAP’s resident artist during the academic year 2012-2013. During her time with the press she assisted with the production of press editions and generated her piece, God Created the Sea and Painted it Blue so We’d Feel Good on it. This piece uses a fictitious travel narrative to explore experience, perception, memory and the space in between composed of symbol, sound and object.
7″ x 5.5″ x 4.25″. Images and text created with photopolymer plates, using Trajan and Optima typefaces on handmade cotton/abaca, French Construction and Neenah Environment papers. Linen and basswood enclosure. Edition of 50.
