The Studio Art minor at FSU is an engaging, hands-on way to grow your creativity and make your ideas shine. You’ll learn how to see the world like an artist, solve problems with different materials, and design with confidence. This minor lets you take exciting advanced studio classes, even if you can’t commit to a full major. It’s a great way to boost your major field of study while building skills that help you sharpen creative ideation, critical thinking, and visual communication—powerful tools that will elevate any academic or professional path.

Is a minor in studio art right for you?

This 12‑credit program fits smoothly into most degree plans and gives you hands-on experience turning ideas into visual form. You’ll learn to think more crtically, communicate more clearly, and approach problems from fresh angles. Whether you are looking for a creative outlet, or you want to design stronger presentations, build a standout portfolio, enhance storytelling skills, or bring innovation into your field, this minor helps you develop the creative confidence to make your work more compelling and original. If you’re studying business, marketing, advertising, communications, entrepreneurship, English, art history, education, or any field in the humanities, social sciences, STEM or medicine, a Studio Art minor can add a powerful creative edge to your work.

If you have a passion for a specific media area, such as ceramics, printmaking, drawing or electronic art, you can tailor your coursework to your particular interests, allowing for a deep and meaningful paractice in your chosen form.
