This semester, the graduate program launched the FSU|MFA + 2025 Workshop Series! These instructional and inspiring workshops offered by staff and students for all Studio Art graduate students included skill sharing in welding, crates and artwork shipping, sewing, quilting, and printmaking.
WELDING WORKSHOP w/ Kea Kamiya
This welding workshop will teach attendees how to weld and bend metal using different processes and techniques. This workshop will include a combination of lecture and hands-on training. It will also cover safety protocols, equipment setup and use.
CRATE WORKSHOP w/ Kelly Hendrickson
Artworks that travel can be vulnerable to damage from bad weather, rough roads, and rough handling by big shipping companies. Through this workshop you will learn how to pack your art safe and sound. We will cover different crating styles, different shipping options and talk extensively about materials, with a professional in the field, Kelly Hendrickson // MoFA Preparator.
SEWING WORKSHOP w/ Tenee’ Hart
Through this specific workshop, the goal is to create a foundation of sewing for all in attendance. Basics of sewing will be instilled through the creation of a personal foldable tote bag during the workshop (all materials will be supplied for those who RSVP). The tote bag can then be used and added to in upcoming workshops.
QUILTING WORKSHOP w/ Sarah Black-Sadler
Through this specific workshop, the goal is to introduce you to the weighted fiber tradition of quilting. Basics of quilting will be instilled through the Kantha quilting technique. This technique can be done by hand or with the assistance of the sewing machines – both ways will be demonstrated through this workshop.
PRINT WORKSHOP w/ Hannah Glaser
