Tracing Boundaries: The Intersections of Places and Identities
The tapestry of life intertwines identities, places, history, and discourse, weaving an image that traces the ever-changing boundaries of self and others. In Tracing Boundaries, artists engage dialectics between bodies, materials, and places to amplify sensitivity to, and a sense of responsibility for, issues ranging from environmentalism to consumerism, multiculturalism, and more. The photographs in this exhibition are made and displayed with various experimental techniques, morphing into tangible three-dimensional objects flowing in space, echoing alternative approaches in contemporary photographic practices. In Tracing Boundaries, the act of belonging is a socially and politically engaged practice. The artists invite us to cultivate a deeper connection with the various nexuses of identities and dwellings we inhabit.
This exhibition will present student work from Materials and Methods: The Advanced Photography Workshop course. This course will be offered again in Fall 2025.
