Call for Collaboration: Pandemic Artist Book

Published June 18, 2021

Deadline for Submissions: July 5, 2021

Small Craft Advisory Press (SCAP) at Florida State University is calling for artists and writers to participate in a collaborative artist book publication.

Collaboration is at the core of SCAP’s publishing initiative. Each of SCAP’s projects is composed of a combination of artists, writers, and scholars that collaborate from the very beginning of an idea through to the completion of the artist book publication. SCAP is seeking artists and writers that are interested in both the collaborative process and the final artistic product. SCAP is dedicated to elevating and centering underrepresented voices and encourages applications from BIPOC and emerging artists and writers.

The past year was one of the most challenging years in history, with the pandemic, social injustices, and the climate crisis effecting every aspect of life and adding to the chaos of 2020. Selected artists and writers will be paired together to create a section of the artist book that reflects on the events and experiences of the past year. The project will require a commitment to attend the launch meeting, a series of individual conversations with SCAP and your fellow collaborator, and a final symposium to launch the book and to reflect on the collaborative creative process in the middle of a pandemic.

Each participant will be awarded a $500 honorarium for their contribution as well as a copy of the resulting publication.

To apply please fill out the google form at the link below with contact information, a statement of interest, collaborative experience, images (up to 5) or writing samples, and or website links to images or writing sample.
