Asymptote Journal: Cosmo Whyte, Coming into Being and Disappearing

Published February 3, 2022

FSU Art Professor Cosmo Whyte, sat down with Art Historian, Poet and Art Editor of Asymptote Journal, Eva Heisler for an interview. Whyte expands on his interest in depicting this tension between coming into being and disappearing.

For me, this tension is the liminal space of migration. All identity is an ongoing process of coming into being; however, the migrant can trace a former self to multiple lived locations.

Cosmo Whyte earned a B.F.A. from Bennington College, a post-baccalaureate certificate from Maryland Institute College of Art, and an M.F.A. from the University of Michigan. Recent exhibitions include: Tender, Fragile Thing, Jack Shainman Gallery: The School, Kinderhook, USA (2022); Yesterday We Said Tomorrow, Prospect.5, New Orleans, USA (2021–2022)
