Sam McCoy (MFA Studio Art, 2021) was invited to speak at the Biophilia Summit 2025, joining Florida State University Interior Architecture and Design professor and Meghan Mick and Kailyn Lawson, Climate Mitigation & Adaptation Specialist of the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation. Together, they talked about environmental storytelling, the mission of the Florida Wildlife Corridor, and the ways public art connects people to nature. Sam and Meghan also shared their recent Jefferson County mural completed in July in downtown Monticello as an example of how public art projects like those commissioned by the FWCF can highlight local ecology. Now teaching at Murray State University, she continues to create work focusing on hyperlocal landscapes and spaces.
