Applications for Fall 2015 will be open from September 1st, 2014 to February 1st, 2015.
Admission to the MFA program in Studio Art at Florida State is a dual application process. A student must be admitted both by the University and by the MFA program in the Department of Art at the College of Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance. Please read the following directions carefully.
Step 1. Applying to Florida State University
Complete the Florida State University Graduate Application. Be prepared to upload the following documents: Artist Statement, Statement of Intent, and Vitae/Resume. You will also be asked to submit requests for letters of recommendations. Your recommenders will need to upload an official letter, as well as fill out a brief survey.
Please note that the GRE is no longer required for admission to the program for applicants with at least a 3.0 GPA in their last 60 hours. For those with less than a 3.0 GPA, the minimum score is a 43% on the Verbal (old score: 430) and a 54% on the Quantitative (old score: 475).
Step 2. Applying to the Department of Art
The department requires applicants to mail two copies of ALL college transcripts to the address listed below:

Additionally, applicants should submit an online portfolio to Slideroom (https://fsuart.slideroom.com). You will need to upload the following information to your portfolio as either documents, images, quick time files, or PDF files:
- 15-20 images of your work
- Artist Statement
- Statement of Intent

To be eligible for the Legacy Fellowship or the Adelaide Wilson Fellowship for 2015-2016, you must apply to the university and department BEFORE Friday, January 17, 2015. Nominations for these fellowships are due by January 25, and this date falls before the application deadline. Please apply early to be eligible.
