Word of South Writing Contest for Bright Futures Recipients

Are you a passionate writer? Enter in the Florida Voices writing contest by March 15 for a chance to win up to $300 and a spot on the Word of South stage! Prose pieces may be fiction or nonfiction, and all kinds of poetry are welcome.

Any current recipient of Florida’s Bright Futures scholarship is eligible.

Getting started is easy:

  • Select your category
    • Prose – up to 1,000 words
    • Single Poem – up to three pages
  • Choose an existing piece or write a new one for the contest
  • Submit your work below, and you’ll be entered to win!

All entries due by March 15, 2015. Winners will be announced prior to the festival.

Prizes (available in each category):

  • First: $300
  • Second: $100
  • Third: $50

All winners will have the opportunity to read their work onstage during Tallahassee’s Word of South festival.

Submission Guidelines

Manuscripts should be in .doc, .docx, or PDF format and should include a coversheet with the author’s full name and contact information. The author’s name should not appear on the manuscript itself. Maximum file size is 40MB.
