The Department of Art within the College of Fine Arts at Florida State University (FSU) seeks applicants for a tenure track assistant professor in Digital/New Media within an interdisciplinary art department.
Candidates will have a commitment to sustained investigation in contemporary art, with primary artistic research in interactive media. Ideal candidates will be comfortable working across disciplines and encompassing broader approaches to art practice and teaching.
The position requires an MFA or equivalent professional experience in visual arts/design, emerging or established recognition in the field, a clear record of excellence in teaching and strong communication skills, and an understanding of a wide array of curricular and artistic methodologies. Knowledge of the history, criticism and theories of visual art with a specific focus on digital technologies and/or new media is required. Likely courses to be taught by the candidate are studio courses in web, interactive media, and programming for artists. Consideration will also be given to designers who possess critical knowledge about digital media and interactivity within a contemporary art context.

The candidate will have responsibilities in research/creative activity, teaching in graduate and undergraduate courses and service. This position has a 2/3 teaching load.
The Department of Art offers undergraduate BA/BFA programs and a 3-year MFA in Studio Art. Our programs encourage interdisciplinary freedom through a wide range of emerging and traditional art practices, while also offering concentrations in digital media, painting and drawing, ceramics, sculpture, photography, printmaking, and photographic/artist books. Both BFA and MFA programs provide students large personal studios and exhibition spaces.
