Summer Internships at Penland

Penland School of Crafts is a national center for craft education offering residential workshops, residencies, community education programs, and exhibitions. DEVELOPMENT INTERN
Position Summary:
The Development Intern is an important member of the development team, providing administrative support and learning about the roles of each staff member. He or she will gain valuable knowledge and experience in fundraising for non-profits including annual campaign and special project fundraising, prospect research, data management and use of Raiser’s Edge software, relationship building and stewardship, and solicitation. The internship period is mid-May through August 30, 2013, full time. The Development Intern reports to the Annual Fund Manager.

BENEFIT AUCTION INTERN
Position Summary:
The Benefit Auction Intern is an important member of the development team, providing administrative support and learning about preparation and management of a multi-day event that raises approximately $650,000. Penland’s Benefit Auction is the 3rd largest craft school auction in the US. This position allows the intern a high level of responsibility through which he or she will gain valuable knowledge and experience in auction model fundraising, planning and executing a multi-day event, registration, follow-up procedures, and data management. The internship is a 40-hour per week position from mid-May through early-September, 2013. The Intern reports to the Development Operations Manager and the Development Associate for Special Events.
