The exclamation mark on Gaines Street is complete! The City of Tallahassee, Leon County Government, the Community Redevelopment Agency and The Florida State University Master Craftsman Studio (MCS) invite you to join us at the Shine On Gaines event.
The centerpiece of the event will be the spectacular lighting of Declaration by Kenneth Von Roenn, director of MCS. Declaration is the newest piece of public art in Tallahassee. At night its light will be a beacon of the bustling Gaines Street district. This unique piece is symbolic of the vibrant, creative community where it will live.
The Bakan Trio will perform from 5:30 – 6 p.m. The formal ceremony and lighting will take place from 6 – 6:30 p.m. Hot Tamale will close out the night, performing from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
The event will also feature art demonstrations, a children’s area and local Gaines Street business vendors. You’ll want to arrive early, as the first 250 people will receive a commemorative gift made from the glass of Declaration.
