FSU Art Faculty Emeritus Ray Burggraf came to Tallahassee in 1970 and taught painting, drawing, design, and color theory at Florida State until he retired to Emeritus status in 2007. His work was recently exhibited at the Ringling Museum in Sarasota. He has maintained a studio in the Railroad Square Art Park for many years and is one of the founders of the popular non-profit 621 Gallery.
Entitled A Passion for Color, this exhibition is a survey of the paintings and constructions of Ray Burggraf and proposes some radically different approaches to seeing the whole color spectrum using acrylic paint, wood, plexiglas and light. Some works even have motion and changing illumination!
Opening night is August 5th, 2016, from 6-9PM at Venvi Art Gallery, 2901 E Park Ave, Tallahassee, FL 32301.
