The reception will feature an artist’s talk by AB Gorham about her recently completed artist’s book edition, Whipstock. Light refreshments will be served. The opening reception is on Wednesday, June 18, 7-9pm and the gallery talk will be at 8pm.
This summer, FAR welcomes three students to its ranks. Graduate intern, Keelie Wray, is working on creating a system for cataloging FAR’s materials collection. This new system will enable FAR staff to better document and share research. Volunteer, Landon Perkins, and intern, Alexis Buechler, will be assisting SCAP staff with a variety of activities including papermaking and the production of artists’ books.
The Florida State University Facility for Arts Research (FAR) incorporates both Small Craft Advisory Press (SCAP), which blends traditional and digital printmaking processes and promotes collaborations between artists and writers to create artists’ books, and formLab, which gives artists, designers and scientists access to a variety of tools that they can use to create unique 3D objects, and explore and visualize form in a tactile, multi-sensory way.
