Published February 13, 2024

NCECA (National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts), the organization that engages and sustains a community for ceramic art, teaching and learning, has selected its 2024 Emerging Artists. Professor Grace Aneiza Ali, Department of Art, was invited to serve as the 2024 Juror and deliberated over the exceptional cohort’s approaches to mastery, dedication to creativity, and commitment to personal expression to expand the scope of the medium. The Fellows’ backgrounds, experiences, and creative paths are a reflection of the diverse methods and ideas shaping contemporary ceramics. The selected Fellows are: Erika NJ Allen, Teddy Osei, Magdolene Dykstra, Robert King, Gloria Han, and Isaac Scott. Ali remarked “Pouring through these artists’ practices was a gift. The innovative ways in which they are using ceramics to tell multiple global stories and histories conveys that the future of the field is in capable hands.”
