Jean Shon

Jean Shon is a visual artist and educator working at the intersections of images, text, installation, and photography. Her work transforms family and community artifacts from the past to reveal and reimagine the history it holds. 

Shon has exhibited at galleries and museums nationwide, including Atlanta Contemporary, Community Artists’ Collective, Lawndale Art Center, and PRJCT LA. She has been awarded residencies at Ragdale, Lighthouse Works, James Castle House, and Galveston Artist Residency among others. She received the Cummings Residency Award from the Griffin Museum of Photography and the Jones Award from Houston Endowment. Shon earned her MFA in Studio Art from the University of California-Irvine and a BS in Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
