Paintings by Anne Stagg exhibited at Tallahassee Gallery

College of Fine Arts

Venvi Art Gallery is delighted to showcase Hidden Layers, Visible Boundaries, a two-person exhibition of works by artists Anne Stagg and Cheryl Eggleston, showcasing over 70 abstract paintings. This exhibition highlights their unique perspectives on the theme through the repetition of patterns, color and marks. Hidden Layers, Visible Boundaries opens with a reception from 5-8 pm on September 6th, and the exhibition runs through October 13, 2024.

In Anne Stagg’s geometrically abstract paintings, she builds layer upon layer of pattern and color, many of which lay “hidden” below the surface. Her work is inspired by the complexities of human interactions, societal systems and the ways that ideas evolve over time. Anne Stagg is a Tallahassee based artist and educator. She currently is an Assistant professor in the Department of Art at Florida State University (FSU) and serves as Director of the Foundations Program. Stagg has received awards, fellowships and grants for her work.

Work by Anne Stagg will be on exhibition at Tallahassee’s Venvi Gallery through October 13.

Cheryl Eggleston’s work features hard edges, strong lines and geometric patterns to evoke imaginative landscapes. Eggleston states there are no rules; her works are an outlet for her thoughts and as such serve as a representation of herself. According to Eggleston, whether “good or bad, art is the product of imperfect human creation.” Cheryl Eggleston is based in South Florida and has received several regional awards for her works, recently winning second place in the GAA 61st Annual Juried Show hosted by the Gadsden Museum of Art in Gadsden, Alabama.

Venvi Art Gallery is located at 2901 East Park Avenue Tallahassee, FL 32301.
