“More Than It Was”
Phyllis Straus Gallery
Opening Reception, Friday April 17, 6-8pm
Cycles of belonging, systems of relation, and the shaping force of place, surface as themes in this group exhibition featuring artworks created by the 2027 BFA cohort. Across these works, relationships – familial, interpersonal, ecological and mythological, emerge as evolving structures in which growth, memory, and transformation inform one another. From intimate narratives of migration and kinship to explorations in biology, mythology and the sacred, the artworks presented reveal identity as something cultivated through connection – to land, to bodies, to histories, and to imagined narratives.
Exhibiting Artists: Kane Bumpers, Hayden Hults, Hadleigh Kreger, Caleigh Pressley, Liana Rieger, Edith Santos, Julia Stephens, Jackie Wasserman, and Lyla Wilson
