Samantha Burns MFA’14 is currently participating in a Studio Based Inquiry and Research program in Berlin, Germany. After writing a proposal, Samantha was 1 of 8 artists accepted to the program and has spent the last few months raising funds for her projects. In May she created a Kickstarter project, which was later fully funded in June.
Samantha arrived in Germany this past Friday, and will be creating work and doing research there for six weeks. All participants in this program were given access to various fabrication facilities and studio spaces around the city. Having this space available has allowed for experimentation and adaptation of creative practices. Taking advantage of Berlin’s art scene, she will be attending open studios, museums and gallery openings. Samantha will also be visiting and collaborating with other artists in and around the city. At the completion of the program, all artists will show their work at the Kunstochschule Weissensee.
During her stay, Samantha will be keeping a blog updating and documenting her studio practice, research, and travels. Updating on a bi weekly basis you can follow and learn more about her projects at BurnsSamantha.wordpress.com
