Maize Arendsee (FSU Art MFA ’15) has received a 2015 Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award (OTAA) from The Program for Instructional Excellence at Florida State University. According to the FSU Graduate School, Maize is the first teaching assistant from the Art Department to receive this prestigious award.
Each year, six graduate students are selected for this university-wide award, which is designed to encourage and reward excellence in teaching and to recognize the contributions that graduate students make to the teaching and learning mission of Florida State University. The committee considers criteria such as continued improvement of teaching practice, engaging in professional growth and leadership, facilitating and inspiring student learning, and other unique qualities that set the nominee apart as a teaching assistant.
