FSU Art Assistant Professor Jeff Beekman is slated to give a free artist talk at the Jimmy Carter Library on July 20th at 7:00PM. He will also be present at a related closing reception for the East Atlanta Library’s showing of his Battlefield Series on July 22nd from 3:30PM to 5:30PM.
From Becca J.G. Goodwin’s article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
The events commemorate the Battle of Atlanta, in which thousands of Union and Confederate soldiers died on July 22, 1864.
The show is a partnership between Friends of East Atlanta Library, a nonprofit volunteer organization that works closely with library staff, and BATL, which hosts events related to southeast Atlanta’s past.
Beekman donated one of the pieces for a silent auction to benefit the East Atlanta Library, according to Henry Bryant, chair of the Friends of East Atlanta Library Art Wall Committee.
The show can be viewed during library hours when the room holding the gallery is not in use; if the room is locked, ask for access at the circulation desk.
