Juried Exhibition Poster

Gallery 842 invites artists in ALL disciplines to submit original works of art in any media, addressing any theme, created within the past three years. The works will be submitted via CD and juried by a committee comprised of faculty, staff and community representatives. Accepted works will be displayed in Gallery 842—a university/community gallery located in downtown Huntington, WV—March 2 – April, 13, 2012.

* Marshall University Department of Art and Design faculty are excluded from this competition.

All visual media using any combination of materials are welcome. Digital media and video works are limited to 15 minutes in duration. All dimensional works must be able to fit through a standard-size doorframe.

All images must be submitted on a CD with the following information typed in a Word document, included on the disc: artist’s name, address, phone number, and e-mail. For each digital image submitted, include an entry number, title of work, media, dimensions and sale price (if not for sale, mark NFS).

Image files must meet the following specifications:
DIGITAL FILENAME = artist’s last name (underscore) first name (underscore) followed by the entry number, as noted on the accompanying Word document
(i.e. Jones_Mike_1.jpg).

Detail images must include the word ‘detail’ in the filename (i.e. Jones_Mike_1detail1.jpg).

Image files should be in HIGH QUALITY JPEG format, no smaller than 1000 pixels in any direction (about 13″) and 72dpi. Images must be oriented properly (i.e. top of image is top of artwork) and must not include artist’s name, or other descriptive text within the image itself, nor contain borders, frames, or margins except as part of the actual work. Video work should be sent with similar naming conventions in QuickTime compatible format.

Accepted work must be available for the duration of the exhibit. Marshall University reserves the right to use accepted images in publications and publicity. CDs of works will not be returned.

All work accepted for the exhibition must arrive ready to install. Works not gallery‐ready, or not exhibiting good craftsmanship, may be omitted from the exhibit. Accepted work that differs significantly from the entry images or suffers from poor presentation will be disqualified. Please note that professional‐level presentation is a must.

A $10 non-refundable entry fee must accompany each work submitted. Number of entries is unlimited. Entry fee must be paid by U.S. check or money order made payable to Marshall University Foundation. Detail images may be included at no additional cost but should only be provided when necessary to reveal an accurate understanding of the artwork.

Your entry submission packet consists of the following: (Incomplete or late entries will be rejected)
1. CD of images with accompanying Word document file, as described above.
2. US check or money order made payable to Marshall University Foundation to cover your total number of submissions.
