Gail Rubini, In Memoriam

Florida State University, especially the Department of Art, are saddened to announce the passing of Emeritus Professor Gail Rubini.

An artist and designer working in the field of new media and publishing in interactive media, Gail Rubini was focused on collaborative projects in visualization and public installation work that includes video and sound. Rubini worked with FSU for over 20 years. She was Chair of the Art Department for her first six years and moved into the classroom to teach design courses in 1995. Gail felt that designers are an integral part of our lives and expanding use of design has come to dominate public space. She felt that her time here was a wonderful opportunity to teach students design and Gail saw many of them become successful professionals in the field.

Gail was more than an artist and teacher; she was a mentor, colleague and dreamer. She cared deeply for the students who passed through her life and made an impact on far more individuals than she realized.Gail and Conrad

We encourage you to learn more about Gail’s amazing career at grubini.com and to share your memories of her with the family.
All memories will be shared with Conrad Gleber and Family and may be posted on a forthcoming Memory Page.

FSU is so honored to pass on her legacy to new generations of artists, designers and innovators through the new Gail Rubini New Media Lab at FSU Innovation Hub.

The lab was a collaborative dream of hers – in alignment with colleagues at FSU and the University itself – and will be a catalyst for students from across many disciplines to learn and utilize new media. Conrad and Family request gifts in her honor to support this vision at https://give.fsu.edu/innovationhub.
