FSU’s Ideas with Impact Social Entrepreneurship Challenge

The Jim Moran Institute extends an invitation to students from all disciplines to participate in the Ideas with Impact Social Entrepreneurship Challenge. A business background is not required.

Competition Goal: The idea is to present a business solution to a social problem or issue.
Participants are encouraged to form teams of three to four students to draft a plan for creating and sustaining a business solution to a social problem, such as poverty, illness, illiteracy, environmental destruction, and human rights abuses and corruption. The business solution can use a for-profit or nonprofit model. The competition is open to all FSU students who are currently enrolled.

Kickoff Workshop: October 2, 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.,Rovetta Business Building, Room 108. The workshop will provide an overview of the competition and an introduction to social entrepreneurship.

Deadline for Entry: October 6, Entry is simple. Just send your problem statement and possible solution statement, which should be no more than one to two paragraphs, to If you’re interested, but haven’t refined your problem, just email a simple statement of intent to propose. Be sure to include your contact information.

Proposals Due: November 10
Winners Announced: November 30, The winners will be announced at a networking breakfast held at the University Center Club (3rd Floor, Futch Ballroom).

– Travel costs and entry fees for national social entrepreneurship competitions
– Consultation and preparation for national competitions
– A professionally produced video pitch for national competitions
