FSU BA’15 Christopher Wootton, internship with CODAworx

Published April 13, 2015

“This summer, I will have the pleasure of interning in Madison, Wisconsin, assisting in an administrative position at CODAworx. Through the invaluable assistance and direction of Kenn von Roenn, I got into contact with CODAworx CEO Toni Sikes earlier this spring and expressed my interest in pursuing an internship, and here we are!

CODAworx is both a company and a platform, seeking to bring together all members of the art and design industry, by showcasing projects that feature commissioned artwork in interior, architectural, and public spaces, and connecting a network of artists and agencies to the resources necessary to bring these projects to life, such as fabricators, engineers, consultants and more.

During my time with CODAworx, I will be contributing to all aspects of administration for the international public art proposal program, which includes tasks such as researching national and global opportunities for artists (including public art commission opportunities, calls for artists, requests for qualifications, and requests for proposals), emailing the contact that is listed for specific RFP opportunities and alerting them that they are posted on CODAworx, introducing CODAworx to new contacts and developing relationships with public art agents and other appropriate commission opportunities, and searching for and contacting artists who are appropriate participants in the commissioned RFP projects.

In addition, I will also be designing a variety of materials for CODAworx and its various multi-media channels, as well as contributing to marketing and public relations efforts for the company’s annual CODAawards awards program.

I am more than excited for this opportunity to see the public art world from a viewpoint other than that of a practicing artist, as the insight that I gain this summer into the workings of the realm of public art proposals and projects will undoubtedly improve my skills working with such agencies when I am practicing and designing later on in my career.”
