Greetings!
With my 3rd solo exhibition for 2012 just concluding, I am back in the studio and attaining many personal and artistic milestones. Pending the delivery of anticipated opportunities for the future, these next several weeks will hold prospect moves on my journey as an artist and professional. My tenure binder has been completed and submitted for consideration at The Florida State University and as of early October, I have passed our college review. From here it will go on to the greater university to be further evaluated— I am optimistic that I will be an Associate Professor of Painting soon. Additionally, this September I was nominated for the prestigious Joan Mitchell Painter’s Grant and I have applied for a Fulbright to do research in Bali during 2013-2014. The results of all this news, I hope to share soon. In March, I will be lecturing at a conference of Visionary Art in Toledo, Spain and this June, I will be teaching drawing in London through FSU’s International Program. Expect updates on all of these issues as well as whereabouts of upcoming shows! Happy holidays and positive energy to an end of 2012 for all!
Much love,
Carrie

The moon has captivated people through the centuries, with her magical powers, her bright luminescence, and the strange things that seem to occur during her ever changing cycles. She is a spiritual center encouraging us to explore, evolve and find creativity in the most unique places. Some find that she is a trickster, or that of one that brings illusions that only the seerer can bring to reality. Looking up to the sky she is with us each night, as faithful as the sunshine, and lighting our way into the darkness in which we all must travel to find light again.

This magical and imaginative series of works span from the delightful to the deliberately satirical, bizarre, and one hopes, wickedly humorous. Through multiple figure narratives, “Since Midnight” thematically explores states of excess that are prohibitive. This series comprises 20 paintings, some as small as 6 by 10 inches, others 48 by 36 inches and one large collage installation.
