Florida State Parks & Conservation Corps Hiring Full-Time Creative Assistant

This is an excellent full-time opportunity for an enthusiastic, well-organized individual to provide design, marketing and visual brand management support to state lands managed by the Department of Environmental Protection, including Florida State Parks and their supporting programs such as the Florida Conservation Corps.

This fast paced environment requires attention to detail on projects associated with a variety of program areas. Some of the projects are reoccurring such as e-newsletter formatting and annual report development, while other projects are multi-phase projects like state park exhibits or long-term marketing campaigns. Quick turnaround projects also occur including special event materials and recreational opportunity promotions via social media.
Other examples of projects include, but are not limited to, merchandise and promotional item development, design and layout of infographics, content and graphic design layout for interpretive panels, signage, posters, flyers and other publication materials, trail map layouts to be used in park programming, as well as presentations for trainings and public speaking events.
This position is responsible for collaborating with various staff to complete projects from concept to final product, which can include involvement in production decisions, the purchasing processes, and distribution.
In support of creative development for items and production, this position performs research and content development such as activities for the Statewide Jr Ranger Program. Brand management is also a priority of this position including the newly developed Florida Conservation Corps brand.
Important Information:  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of design principles
  • Knowledge of visual consistency practices
  • Skill in use of office equipment including proficiency in the following software: Adobe Creative Suite 6 (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher)
  • Skill in content development including researching and writing copy on a variety of subjects related to natural and cultural resource management and outdoor recreation
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to identify, investigate and resolve problems
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work projects
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license

Requirements/Deadlines: This position is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The hourly rate for this position is $13.00.
