The concept of the image brings inherent, political conversation. Wim Wenders has written, “The most political decision you make is where you direct peple’s eyes. In other words, what you show people, day in and day out, is political…And the most politically indoctinating thing you can do to a human being is to show him, every day, that there can be no change.” Unlike Wenders’ belief, art can be more than just a passive or submissive behavior, but also a transgressive action. A breach, error, or defiance can become the essential image necessary to polemicize change; such a chance can be found most available in an academic setting, where the possibility for the new can be a drive for discussion. This exhibition highlights the relevance of the contemporary image, and its ability to enact different and individual outlooks on the world we live in, ultimately bringing the conversation past its origin and on to more innovative ideas.
