Donald Guevara (FSU Art MFA ’22) wins prestigious Nashville Arcade Arts residency!

Donald Guevara was recently announced as a 2025-2026 Artist in Residence at Arcade Arts in the newly renovated Nashville Arcade! This 10-month juried residence includes workshops, artist talks, monthly Art Crawls, gallery shows of participating artists, and more. This achievement marks another milestone in his career, following his 2022–23 TOY Fellowship at NXTHVN, a distinguished arts incubator and fellowship program that supports emerging artists and curators features in international.

Guevara is a professor of art at Austin Peay State University and a working artist. His work is deeply informed by his identity and upbringing. He is of Indigenous Honduran and American German descent, raised in St. Louis, MO by a first-generation Congolese American family. This layered cultural background introduced him early to themes of contradiction, transition, and relations—ideas that remain central to his practice exploring liminal spaces and the fragmented nature of identity.
