DESERT LIFE: Field Studies of Art+Nature in the Southwest – AUGUST 2015

The ART+BIO Collaborative, an educational nonprofit, offers unique art and nature travel courses. Participants use hands-on observation, artistic interpretation, biological/natural history methods, and utilize the natural habitat as a studio+lab to make informed art about plants, animals, and nature.

August 3-9, 2015
This is a hands-on, immersive, and project-based program that integrates biology and art in the field, at various desert environments. Participants will camp at multiple field sites in west Texas and southwest New Mexico. The focus of the program is to learn about the unique wildlife of the desert through art-making and field biology. This program provides an immersive experience of the diverse environments of the Chihuahuan Desert, such as white sand dunes, black lava rocks, mountain caves, and riparian habitats.

This course is open to anyone over 18 and is designed for students, artists, scientists, professionals and people generally interested in nature, art, and biology.
