DUE SOUTH 2025 | YARN BOMB | DEADLINE NOVEMBER 15, 2024

Due South 2025
Public Art Exhibition + Competition
Stop & Smell the Roses!
April 3 – May 1, 2025

            CALLING ALL FIBER ARTISTS…

Stop & Smell the Roses!, a public art exhibition + competition in the Creative District, is designed to complement the Center’s Due South 2025 Music, Food, & Art Festival, set to take place on April 5, 2025.  It will be on display during the 104th Rose Show Festival and will focus on the sights and sounds of Thomasville as we celebrate roses, the symbol of our city.

16 teams of fiber artists (1-2/team) will compete to yarn bomb 16 lampposts along the West Jackson Street corridor by staging a rose-inspired yarn bomb. Each team will create a fiber art sleeve for the lamppost with an embellishment of a fiber art bouquet of roses along with other local flowers – crocheted, knitted, felted, or created with any fiber art medium. We challenge all artists to create something new and modern for this exhibition.

Three awards including Best of Show: $1,000, 1st Place: $750, and 2nd Place: $500 will be granted to the top three fiber art teams. Honorable Mention awards will also be given to two additional teams for “community favorites.”

Thomasville Center for the Arts is currently seeking exhibition proposals for its 2025 season. We invite emerging curators, artists, collectives, and thinkers of all kinds to submit preliminary ideas for thought-provoking exhibitions to be exhibited in our multi-disciplinary art venue located at Grassroots Coffee Co in Thomasville, Georgia. Learn more on our application >
