BINARY EXHIBITION AT WORKING METHOD CONTEMPORARY GALLERY

Over time, humans have displayed an affinity for categorization. People are categorized into category A or B, ideas and morals are looked at as either black or white, and complex structures are packaged into neat boxes in order to make them “easier” to comprehend.

How far have patterns of binary categorization and thinking extended into different facets of our culture today? Is this for better, for worse, or both? This open call is for artwork that explores and responds to binary forms of thinking and categorization present within our current society. Binary can be explored through expressions of what our current society deems as “black” or “white,” or even the “gray” spaces in-between that exist outside of categorization. This can be explored in specific or broader contexts.

An opening reception for this exhibition will be held on February 13th from 4:00-7:00pm at Working Method Contemporary Gallery inside the Carnaghi Arts Building, 2214 Belle Vue Way, Tallahassee, FL, 32304
