Bates College is seeking a ceramic artist with expertise across ceramic processes and techniques for a full-time, three-year position to begin August 2012.
A terminal degree with an emphasis in ceramics is required, and a minimum of two years experience teaching undergraduates is preferred. An active exhibition record is expected. We are looking for candidates with knowledge of historical and contemporary practices, who have broad approaches to teaching undergraduate ceramics. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates who have the ability to enrich our commitment to a diverse community and curriculum in meaningful ways. The ability to teach three- dimensional studies and/or drawing, or other courses that make links to or enhance the studio curriculum would be desirable.
Responsibilities include teaching five courses, managing and maintaining the ceramics facility.
