“I never had any idea how much an internship could impact me and my future until I reflect on how differently I thought at the beginning of this semester. This semester, I worked as a photographer for the Union Marketing team. I got to know so many amazing creatives that I will remain friends with after this internship is over and continue to connect with as we all move along in our lives and careers.
I was given the responsibility early on to produce a commercial for a campus initiative called Power of We that aimed at campus inclusion. It has been played during halftime at all the football games and received very positive feedback overall. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have worked with the people I worked with on that project.
I also had the opportunity of practicing a lot of studio photography in terms of headshots and glamour. I think that working with people and directing them in order to get the best picture is a critically important skill for any photographer to have.
I came into this internship with high expectations for myself. I had goals such as making connections and building my resume and I can say that I accomplished both of those. I have so many projects under my belt from this semester that I would be so happy to show future employers.
Better yet, I have been able to do 3 freelance jobs due to connections through my internship. I was able to make a video for a construction company in town which they now use as a commercial. It has been such an amazing experience here at the office that at this point I wouldn’t know what to do without it. In such an awesome environment, it’s hard not to get so much out of it.”
