Art Alum is Bringing Art to Rural Communities

Published July 28, 2022

Art Alum Christina Klein (MFA, Studio Art ’17) is preserving the forgotten and bringing art to unexpected places is the crux of this community project. This is the second year she has rounded up friends, family and neighbors to come together in the middle of a pasture, to spend a day painting together. For many in rural communities, access to art museums and galleries can be few and far between. Therefore it’s exciting to have the opportunity to bring art to the countryside.

The paint used was collected through a local Buy Nothing Group as well as donated by Waste Management. All barn repairs were done using recycled wood from shipping palettes and floorboards taken from a house before it was bulldozed.
