Forever Young is looking for interns who will do a variety of business related tasks from administrative to creative. This includes working for a required set of hours each week with an artist in our studio. Interns will be responsible for cataloging art work, promotion, corresponding with art galleries and dealers, invoicing, scheduling, and communicating with clients and artists. Students will learn to analyze the artistic needs of both clients and employers and get hands on experience of what it’s like to work the business side of being an artist. Communication, organization, networking, project management and personnel skills are key traits needed for this position. Compensation will be discussed upon hiring. A strong work ethic is required and an appreciation for art is a plus.
The owner of Forever Young, Shannon Young, graduated from Florida State University on the Dean’s List in 2010 with a BFA in Studio Art. In the past few years she has opened a store front with an art studio in Tallahassee where she makes and sells her work along with a few employees. In the past year she has had the opportunity to travel and sell her work nationally and internationally. She participated in an internship for class credit through Master Craftsman Studios for almost two years while attending FSU and had an incredible experience. With this background, she would like the opportunity to help current students with their own artistic journey.
Interns will be required to spend 10-15 hours a week with an artist at our studio as well as engage in business related tasks from administrative to creative. The deadline to apply will be the first day of drop/add after 2013 Fall classes begin.
