FSU Art Faculty Anne Stagg recently travelled to Amherst, Virginia over Spring Break for an artist residency at Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.
VCCA is located on 12 acres on the campus of Sweet Briar College and brings together visual artists, writers, and composers from the US and around the globe. While there, Anne was in residence with 22 others and was immersed in a community that shared their research through (almost) nightly readings, presentations and studio visits. In her week (plus), she noted, “This residency provided me with a time to reflect on recent work and contemplate new endeavors. In my short time, I began a new series of paintings and drawings. This residency was incredibly meaningful to me and I returned to Tallahassee recharged and excited about my studio practice.”
