FSU Art Alumni Spotlight: Leah Gossett (MFA 2022)

Leah Gossett, FSU Art MFA 2022 Alum
 
Leah Gossett was recently hired as the Education Coordinator at the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum in Carrollton, Georgia.
Gossett’s goal is to continue growing the museum’s education sector by expanding class and program offerings while making learning more accessible to their local and regional communities. They also serve on the collections and education committees.
Gossett is also currently an instructor at the University of West Georgia teaching art foundations, ceramics, and art appreciation courses along with various fiber-related workshops. Gossett received an M.F.A. in Studio Arts from Florida State University and a B.F.A. in Ceramics from the University of West Georgia.
As an interdisciplinary artist, Gossett works with a variety of materials to create installations, sculptures, and performances. Community outreach and storytelling are a large part of their practice, with a specific focus on reckoning with Appalachian culture and queer identity.
